A few days ago, the kids found this baby
sparrow. They named him, made a little birdhouse and caught some worms for his dinner. Charlie was a good sport and great entertainment for the afternoon and then, to their surprise, he flew back to his family.

Happy endings are always present, even when the critics disagree!

La Cantera, San Antonio
Spring is my favorite season, by far. Since I was born in April, maybe cake was my initial joy. Now, at 36, I can honestly say it is the newness and beauty of life in Spring that inspires me.

Sam and I have birthdays just 10 days apart, so this year to celebrate we took a much needed 4 day getaway to San Antonio's La Cantera. We laughed, ate, rested, visited with friends and family but mostly commented on how beautiful it was. The weather was stormy one night and windy for golf, yet each morning we sat by the enormous glass window for breakfast and basked in the beauty of nature, forgetting any imperfection from the day before.

Tonight we are back living in the real world of responsibilities but thankfully Spring followed us home so tomorrow morning I will find my biggest window and take in the beauty.

From The Love of God
By Frederick M. Lehman, 1917:

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

All eight were present, but by the look on their faces this pic looks like it was taken in the 19th Century. Rest assured the ice cream brought big smiles after!
